41) Fun things to deal with

These are probably going to be some of, if not the last pictures from Swaton (my school) that I will be posting. After a bizarre and rather angry meeting with the owner of the school, I was told I could no longer take photos of my students (although this was not the main topic of the meeting, it is just the most relevant for this post).

My experience at this school has been steadily going down hill as the time passes. I am just glad I am almost out now, and in a short time I will be in Cambodia. Things went from bad to worse, and anyone who has had direct experience with this school is not surprised. Chip brightened my mood a bit today with these comments: “Sounds like life keeps tossing you fun things to deal with. Just keep good spirits, and think of the sweet stories you'll be able to tell. Everyone likes to hear how bad someone else's life is/was, and how you got through it. So all this could somehow make someone else's day brighter, so think of that....”

Anywho, enjoy the pictures. I may get around to writing a more indepth post about the school, but at this point I don’t know if it is even worth my time. I would rather just leave this all in the past.

These are all pictures from my Fo2 class (which is one of the lowest level classes we have- so they learn things like colors, letter sounds, etc). They are a fun class, and have produced some of what I consider the best photos. I will miss these kids.

that fucking school needs to be blown up, kids and teachers removed beforehand... I have listened to all you've shared with me and it simply reminds me of the hell I went through while there... it's astounding to think I finished the contract... irrelevant, but nonetheless, still astounding when I look back on it. I'm just glad you'll be done soon and will no longer have to be battered by the nonsense that runs rampant throughout it's mangy dens... you'll be a better person and teacher because of it too... don't let it get you down any more... it's done, two days, and you did it, they can eat shit and die now, get your shit into Dan's and then come stay with me and Dave for a few days before enjoying the vacation of a lifetime in Cambodia... at this point, all I think about is those poor teachers who are on the way from Ireland, to replace you, and have no idea what's in store for them...

Here is a link to a site intended to help teachers identify problem schools, recruiters, etc. PRIOR to signing on with them:
http://www.englishschoolwatch.org/index.php

Hopefully, others will check this site out and thereby avoid the needless aggravation the two of you have been exposed to.

You may even consider posting your opinions on the site's "Discussion Forum" or "Review" sections and share the link with other teachers you know who could also add some relevant information.

It's true... that place gets worse every day and will continue to do so whether you're there or not. I was just going to send you a comment saying how much I enjoyed seeing pics of those kids and to take more while you can... they sure know how to crush your spirit at every turn. That F02 class was one of my favorites even though i only had them for 1 or 2 months... Good luck and have fun in Cambodia. Hope to catch up with you back in Korea soon.

Hey Kyle,

Sucks about the school not allowing you to take more pictures. Good luck in Cambodia, sounds like a fantastic time.

I just wanted to comment about your pictures as I can see that you just keep getting better and better. Simply amazing. The techniques and the editing that you do to highlight certain aspects of the photos is wonderful. Keep up the good work. Your photography inspires me and I look forward to seeing Cambodia through your lens. Hope that brightens your day a little.

Peace OUT!!!
