144) The Rain Forest (1)

I went to this forest two days in a row. The first day was just for a brief time, the guys I was with wanted to jump in the river off a rope by a waterfall. The forest and river was absolutely beautiful! Interestingly there were hardly any bugs at all, only one area that had some mosquitoes, but I managed to lose them after a couple minutes.





I was really overjoyed to be in a place like this, this is an ecosystem I have been wanting to experience first hand for a very long time. I was also fortunate enough to see some bamboo growing in the wild, which is another think I have wanted to experience.

141) Gardens

Yesterday I wondered around until I found a botanical garden. I had a rough idea where it was, but I was by no means sure of it, and after a bus ride and some wondering, I found it.




The gardens where, as I expected, beautiful. I was surprised by the size of some of the trees there, they were huge! I was also surprised by the size of some of the leaves on certain types of palm trees. The leaves were at least 6 feet wide by 7 feet long, and probably longer. All in all, it was a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki.
